In the past couple of days, I’ve noticed the carpal tunnel really acting up. I’m not knitting very much, I’m not blogging/commenting very much, so the only other culprit is work. I’ve known it for a while, but this confirms it: work is bad for my health. And probably yours, too. Unfortunately, there’s not a hell of a lot I can do about it, I work because I like to eat. No money, no food.
I am getting irritated about the knitting, though. I went to Stitch n Bitch armed with knitting books and magazines, and taking frequent breaks, made it through about 16 rows of my brother’s scarf. And then I was done. I could have pushed through another pattern repeat, but I was already feeling numb in my fingers and didn’t want to stress my hands any more.
This is pissing me off, people. I cannot possibly get all my Christmas knitting done if I only get through 16 rows a night. And that was 16 rows after four days off! Apparently even my subconscious is getting irritated, because I woke up at 4 AM and had somehow managed to take my splints off. I have a vague memory of fighting with the velcro closures, but no idea why it was so important to me to take them off. All I knew is that they were laying beside me on the pillow, much like my retainer used to when it would irritate me in my sleep in college. Take that, irritating hardware! I had this moment of intense relief, a sort of “it’s so much nicer to sleep without being strapped down like a kickboxer,” but then I was a good little girl and put them back on. This two months will not be over soon enough.

Where do retainers go when they die?
Mine all just disappeared. Like ballpoint pens.
Its the weather, I blame the cold, though i always blame the cold.
You need Rick to upgrade his job/income so he can support you in a manner befitting a woman like you. Or at least make enough money so you can live with him and be a “housewife”. Then work won’t be bad for you!
Sugar daddies/mommies rule!
Damn! That sux if it’s giving you that much trouble. Are you wearing the splints during the day as well?
I had the carpal thing when I was pregnant. It’s scary!! Maybe hire some people from STITCH AND BITCH TO KNIT for you?? Are they a part of Shake and Bake? the franchise restaurant??
[...] I told Julie I’d help her with her knitting woes by teaching her how to knit continental style. My theory being that it would put less strain on her arms and not aggravate her carpel tunnel. [...]
As a spin-off to Vince’s suggestion, you could hire a dictator (okay, wrong word, but continue) to dictate your posts to. That way you still have blogging fun, sans pain.
I vote for Rick. Any seconds?
Oh Honey. I hope you feel better soon.
When you gonna post/show our day at Tiffany’s?
Sorry you are having this crap during prime knitting season. I think you need a little bitch at work. Someone who you can boss around and make do all of the grunt work like typing.
Feel better!
