GettysburgIt’s been a good long time since we had a picture post, so what the hell, right? My uncle Norm has been shooting pictures for as long as I can remember, so it was very cool to be able to discuss shots with him this weekend. I call this one “Look, Ma, I finally learned how to use the macro setting!” Cannon, Gettysburg National Cemetery. 20th Maine monument, with offerings. Driftwood stump, Little Round Top Tammany Hall monument. New York likes big monuments, and lots of them. We were starting to wonder if anyone fought at Gettysburg besides New Yorkers because there were so many NY monuments. Inside Devil’s Den, where I was once tapped on the shoulder by a ghost. Cyprus tree, Gettysburg National Cemetery. Confederate High Water Mark, Gettysburg. The milkweed or whatever in the foreground marks the spot where I believe I died in a past life – a casualty of Pickett’s Charge. Norm and I had a long conversation of this and he told me I was the second person he’d heard who had that reaction to walking around Gettysburg. He then lamented that he’s never had something cool like that happen, or even seen a ghost, and said he’s starting to think he’s not special because of this. I told him he was special alright. In a short bus kind of way. I love my uncle. 5 comments to Gettysburg |

ESC~Yep, I was a Confederate. Officer, too, since I remember looking down at my sleeve and seeing braid – I think a lieutenant.
Mafia~It was amazing, those waves of dread just washed right over me walking through that place again this weekend. Crazy.
Wow, that’s incredible Julie.
Nice photos too!
Why am I not surprised you may have been a reb in a former life?
Cool pictures.
