A threat to national security. Or your sanity. September 13, 2007 ~ 9:40 am

Posted by Julie in : Random Insanity , trackback

Last night someone at my server decided my home PC was a threat, or malicious, or some such shit, and wouldn’t let me log in to blog. It also made me download some Google anti-spyware shit, since it seemed to feel that the free anti-spyware shit I already have let some stuff through and that I was virus-ridden or something. And then it kept telling me that it couldn’t update, although it clearly told me that it had, and that it wouldn’t run a scan until I had updated. And while I was willing to play along for a while, it was when the whole situation had eliminated my wine buzz and I was ready to throw the PC out the window that I turned the fucking thing off and walked away, post-less.

Which is a shame, because all I really wanted to say was that YouTube and merlot don’t mix, because then you end up watching this, or this, or this, or even this, shouting out the lyrics and wondering why hair bands went the way of the dinosaurs. And then you start jonesing for another episode of Rock of Love, and that’s when you realize you probably shouldn’t still know all the lyrics to Winger’s “Seventeen.” So you stop drinking and move along to watch normal shows on TiVo. Like How Clean Is Your House. *ahem*

Drunk YouTubing. I might actually have discovered something worse than drunk dialing.

I have a serious question for you, Jules, and I’m confident you can answer.

Why is it that Bret ALWAYS gives us ‘feedback’ / ‘monologue’ / ‘narratives’ while wearing the SAME shirt?

OMG, you made me look at Warrent! I think my eyes are starting to bleed!

BTW, I found some great internet radio stations on I-Tunes that feature awesome 80’s metal. I’ll have to send you the URL’s. You’d dig them. I mean, where can you hear Accept’s Balls to the Wall any more?

3. Julie - September 13, 2007

Vince~My mom took my uncle to see Dokken for his first concert (he’s only 8 years older than me) and she still remembers Accept being the opening act and singing “Balls to the Wall,” complete with accompanying hand gestures. Aaaaand…I used to love “Cherry Pie.”

KtP~It makes me so, so, so happy that someone else watches “Rock of Love.” I think maybe Bret only has two shirts. Or, they did it all at the end. The part that I love is when he talks about the “deep, spiritual connection” he has with a girl’s tits. At least he’s honest.

Even more dangerous: drunk iTunesing. The other night I downloaded a bunch of Genesis and Huey Lewis and The News and Pat Benetar after a few (hundred) beers.

I love you for loving hair bands.

Also, what is UP with Axl’s SHORTS???

6. Sloth - September 13, 2007

Wow, that is a LOT of hair flipping. Man, I was so hot for Sebastian Bach. Um……..who am I kidding, I still am.

Why is there no video for Youth Gone Wild? WTFuckingF?

7. Julie - September 13, 2007

Sloth~I had a night like that a while back and ended up with a bunch of Springsteen and some Harry Chapin. I am not proud of it, but I still like the songs. 2.) Axl wore those shorts that entire album tour. Sometimes with a kilt. 3.) Skid Row was my first concert. And I desperately wanted to tell Sebastian that when he was starring in “Jekyll and Hyde” on Broadway several years ago, but I never did.

I love it that he has a career and didn’t just dry up and disappear. I do! I love it!

9. Vince - September 13, 2007

Julz, I saw Dokken TWICE - once opening for Judas Priest and the other time opening for Aerosmith. And Accept opening for Iron Maiden was the first concert I took the Wife to. I was a TOTAL metalhead back then.

As opposed to a mostly metalhead now.

“Let him who hath understanding recon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, and it’s number is six hundred and sixty six” (you know the rest, don’t you?)

I so love hair bands!!!! I had to watch “Cherry Pie.”

Sloth, I’m as disappointed as you are that there wasn’t a video for “Youth Gone Wild,” one of my fave Skid Row songs. However, when I was in Germany I sat down and wrote out the ultimate concept video for YGW, lyric by lyric. I’m not sure it survived the fire, but it would be great to see if it did and then post it.

I can remember the two opening riffs were accompanied visually by kickstarting Harleys… yeah, it’s all coming back. Damn, now I won’t rest until I remember what the rest of the video was supposed to look like in my 18 year old brain.

The video for Slave to the Grind fucking rocks, yo ~grins~ I could eat Sebastian Back alive, then and now (with the weight he’s carrying now I know he’d live thru the experience at least).

And “Cherry Pie” was the worst song on that album–it should never have made vinyl and the original title of the album should have been stuck with (Uncle Tom’s Cabin was supposed to be the name and the title cut).

One stupid producer whining for one more damn song, and Warrant goes from metallic geniuses to the dollar CD bin. Fuck.

And yes, I see now I DO definitely need to go sleep me off some pain meds…

12. earthday - September 17, 2007

Haha. You should have seen Sebastian as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. That was awesome! I got to hang out in his dressing room after.

13. Julie - September 18, 2007

Earthday~Oh, that’s awesome. I wish I could have seen that!

Pan~I agree with you that Cherry Pie was weak, but it made me laugh. I was 14, what the hell did I know about “If I think about baseball, I’ll swing all night”? I still have a soft spot for the song because of when I first heard it.

Nanner~I think you should make a video on YouTube.

Vince~I was more of a hairband girl. Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Lep, Aerosmith, yeah, I know some of them are harder than others, but you know what I’m talking about. :)

Sloth~Some of them are able to do that. I cheer for them. :)
