Holy Finished Objects, Batman! November 19, 2007 ~ 11:13 am

Posted by Julie in : Craftiness Is Next To Godliness , trackback

Holy crap, I got some knitting done in the past two weeks! Details and pictures for not one, not two, but three projects that I finished behind the break.

Glorianna, started October 1st, 2007 (I think), finished November 11th, 2007
Pattern: Elizabeth I - Glorianna by JoLene M. Treace (purchased at Knitpicks.com)
Yarn: Handmaiden Sea Silk in Waterfall, 1 skein 70% silk, 30% seacell
Needles: Addi Lace Turbos, US Size 4, 32″ circs
Dimensions: This is my weak part…um, scarf-ish or stole-like dimensions?
Pattern Notes: None
Would I knit it again? Definitely. It’s beautiful, the lace pattern isn’t hard, and the yarn is gorgeous.

The magic of lace knitting. It goes from that interesting but not pretty pile of crap above into this.

Dark Mark Scarf, started November 11th, 2007, finished November 18th, 2007
Pattern: Dark Mark Illusion Scarf by Lindsay Henricks
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash (the black) and Wool (the green) No store had both colors in one yarn. Nearly both of each scarf when I finished the fringe.
Needles: US Size 8s
Dimensions: Scarf like? Long enough to wrap around your neck, wide enough to keep the chill out.
Pattern Notes: This knit was so quick that I couldn’t believe it. If not for the Carpal Tunnel Breaks, I guess it would have taken me a few days instead of a week. Also, the pattern should be trusted even though you won’t see the Dark Mark right away when you’re knitting it.
Would I knit it again? Not this one because I’ve only got on Dark Mark fan in my life, but this has really turned me on to illusion knitting. Amazing how simply moving the knit and purl stitches around does this!

Blurred because the lighting was crap in the late afternoon. I think you can see the “illusion” anyway.

Odessa, started November 16th, 2007, finished November 18th, 2007
Pattern: Odessa by Grumperina
Yarn: Knit Picks Andean Treasure (1.1 skeins) 100% alpaca, in Summer Sky Heather
Needles: US Size 4 and 6 dpns
Dimensions: It fits on my head and covers my ears.
Pattern Notes: I knit this on dpns throughout rather than circs just because I didn’t have circs in those sizes. Worked out just as well, although I lost track of the beginning of the round towards the end. I don’t think it mattered.
Would I knit it again? Yes. I’m already planning a non-beaded version for a guy on my Christmas list. Non-beaded = manly and less of a pain in the ass. The beads are beautiful, but oh my god, the stringing took forever!

In-progress Odessa

I finished it after this, but didn’t have the energy to take more pictures and upload them.

Grace~It’s very cool. The recipient is going to die when she sees it. :)

ESC~Thanks! I’m starting to feel it in my hands today. Must go slower with the mittens.

Vince~I know you are angling for knitwear. Give up. ;)

I love the Dark Mark scarf… totally rad!

6. Michael - November 20, 2007

Very nice. I’d like a Ravenclaw scarf, please. Or even a Griffyndor one, but not like Prof. Dumbledore would wear, ’cause apparently, that would be totally gay.
