Self. And yarn. November 20, 2007 ~ 11:08 am
Posted by Julie in : About a Julz, Craftiness Is Next To Godliness , trackbackLast night I took some pictures of the finished Odessa in my horrible bathroom lighting so you could get a feel for how it fit:
Then I realized that it looks like I’m wearing a bathing cap. Hmmm. I got my hair cut a week and a half ago, and when I say cut, I mean cut. I hadn’t had a haircut in about…um, seven months. Maybe longer. So I looked like this:
In other words, like a dumbass. My layers had all grown out and my hair was just blah. Rick looks nice though, doesn’t he? I can’t get a tan like that to save my life, let alone one that will last into November. Someday when I don’t have skin cancer and everyone else on this planet does, however, I will be victorious. But I digress.
I got a haircut. And apparently two zits as well. And I learned that holding the camera at just the right level on a DSLR that doesn’t use its LCD as a viewfinder can be interesting (or a tremendous pain in the ass and heavy to boot).
The haircut normally looks better. This was after having an alpaca hat on my head, after all.
Freddie agrees that hat hair is bad:
But yarn is good. Guess whose Blue Moon Fiber Arts order came in last night?
It’s missing a skein (I ordered two of one color for a pair of knee socks), but I emailed BMFA last night to tell them and they just got back to me saying they would send out replacement skeins in a few days after they had dyed them. I heart BMFA. Also, three of the skeins above are gifts. I’m just not telling which three.

I absolutely love the new haircut!! You look awesome!
P.S. I drooled a bit on my keyboard when I saw the yarn.
First of all, I thought you looked great with the long hair. That being said, the new do is very cool! You look great! Don’t listen to Freddie, he’s just the cat after all.
Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Did you order enough twin? Hahhahahahaha. Freddie is so cute. Its funny that now because I have a cat, I find other cats cute. Hmph, us Libras. I’m gonna go order some fiber now!
You make me think of 1940s Hollywood in the hat.
I so am jealous of your pretty, talented, possessed-of-yarn ass!
My KnitPicks order is six days into shipping. Have I seen my KnitPicks order? Hellz no! SO not pleased here.
Love the haircut; love the hat. Envious of the yarns. Wishing we could talk like normal.
Love the haircut! And the cap ; )
Happy Thanksgiving!
Redheads always look good to me. I hate y’alls.
The haircut is really cute (even if it did get sat on by an alpaca)!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
BTW - was at an alpaca show just recently. Lots of wool and spinning and such going on as well and kept thinking that you and Aimee would be in heaven there!
Excellent haircut! I’m sure it’s much less work and you save money on shampoo!
I really like the idea of leaving the Christmas decorations up through January. After the first Jan. takes a major nose dive.
Seth~Agreed. Cold dark days do nothing for me. Christmas lights at least liven it up a little.
Seamus~And ESC, too, she’s taken up spinning recently as well. I loves me some alpacas. Especially when they make their little impatient humming noise. I always empathize with them.
Kendra~Cheer up, I’m turning “blonde” but for the grace of John Frieda color glaze. And actually, the glaze doesn’t cover up my whites as well as it should.
Brighton~Thanks! Hope your holiday was a wonderful one!
Aimee~Someday soon we will be able to have our normal conversations. I miss them, too.
Pan~Call them. Seriously, they are massively backlogged, and my order was on hold for no good reason until I called them. And then they tried to backorder one of my yarns until January 5. I cancelled that yarn because hello, it was for a Christmas present. I may knit faster than I used to, but I can’t knit so fast that time goes backwards. Although that would be a REALLY cool super power.
Grace~I went to a gala two weeks ago and my hair looked all 20s flapper. I should figure out how to make a cloche hat to go with the ‘do.
Necia~Now that the yarn is all arrived? No, not enough yarn.
But it will keep me busy through the spring and summer, especially since I re-upped in the Rockin’ Sock Club.
Vince~But he’s Freddie Mercury the cat. He’s got style, dahling. And a bitchy side to attack you with. But thanks for the compliments.
Kim~Some yarn might be coming to your house. Maybe. Just maybe.
