It wasn’t a total loss… December 27, 2007 ~ 1:30 pm
Posted by Julie in : Daily Grind , trackbackThe holidays weren’t all bad. We did get to spend time with the girls, I spent a fair amount of time with Rick, and I got to see Samang’s first brush with Christmas (how to tire a 6 month old baby out: give her five million Christmas presents and a bunch of wrapping paper. She went strong for about 40 minutes and then crashed and burned.).
I got some really great gifts, too. A WooLee Winder and a gift card to my favorite knitting store in the city from my mom. Gift certificates to the Brooklyn Academy of Music so that I can see Patrick Stewart doing the Scottish play from Jordana. Rick is buying my plane tickets to and from Florida. And I bought myself some stylish Merrell boots last night because I needed some waterproof and insulated boots. That reminded me of being a pirate. Arrr.
I’ve taken tomorrow off and I have no idea where that’s going to lead me. Rick might come down, or I might go up to Massachusetts. If I don’t do that tomorrow, I have big plans for yarn shopping and catching a movie. I’ve already seen Sweeney Todd, but I might go again just for the “By The Sea” sequence, which is brilliant. Or I might see National Treasure 2. I think a day to catch my breath is just what I need. Hope you all get one as well.

National Treasure 2 is good for mindless entertainment. There are some funny moments in it, but overall, not as good as the first one. Then again, it IS a sequel. Are they ever as good as the original?
Sounds like despite the craziness, you did have a good holiday. Enjoy your day off!
I don’t think you’ll need the Merrel boots in Florida!!!
The Water Horse is a worthy flick as well!
Hey I’m up for “Sweeney Todd!” Want to go together? Let me know.
Enjoy your day. I’m sure you need it. I’ll be chilling next week.
I really want to see Sweeney Todd. I may do that this weekend. Nate also wants to see it but I’m not so sure…
I want to see you in your hot boots.
I got forced to take a breather day–I caught the flu
Buh-leh!
I liked Sweeney Todd and Nat’l Treasure 2, also. Neither blew me away, though. I’m gonna see No Country for Old Men and see what that does…
Michael~Sweeney kind of blew me away. I was sorry about the songs they cut, but overall Burton did a really good job at staying true to what the piece originally was - dark comedy with a shot of tragedy.
Pan~Ew! Hope you feel better soon!
Kendra~At some point, I will actually make it to Boston. I swear. And I will need a tour guide if you, your hubby, and the Wee Lee are up to it. Notice I’m including the Wee Lee, because it probably won’t happen before late spring. Still boot weather in Boston, no?
Nanner~We took the Youngest (she’s 12) to see it. It was very bloody (it’s about a serial killer, of course it’s bloody), but it was somewhat surrealistic blood. Of course, the Oldest and I also knew where the bloodbaths were going to occur, so we could tell her to cover her eyes if she wanted to.
Vince~Two weeks and I get my trip to Florida. Then I’ll be chilling.
Lisa~Sure! My weekends are very back and forth between NYC and Massachusetts right now, but maybe a weeknight? Email me.
Seamus~You’re right. Nor will I need a winter coat, but the bummer is that I’m going to have to wear one to the airport up here.
And the Waterhorse looks very cool.
Grace~Mindless entertainment is what we seek around here…
