So the majority of my mother’s family and I are now incommunicado.  “Deceased” to each other, as it were.  I was very upset about it for most of the day.  And then I realized something…no relationship, familial or otherwise, entitles someone to torment you or make you feel like less of a person.  There’s a word for that.  Abuse.  And since I had it within my power to break free of that abuse, I did.  I sent an email saying “If you don’t want to talk, then fine.  Let’s make it mutual.”  Because I’m an adult, and I don’t have to put up with that shit.

So thank you everyone who sent me nice comments, emails, or just good vibes.  I really appreciated those today.  Special thanks to Mom, who helped me put everything in perspective, and Lori, who made me laugh all day with Monty Python quotes and political humor. Love you both.
