Cat Scratch Fever July 24, 2006 ~ 10:39 am
Posted by Julie in : Da Cats, Rick, Technobabble, Urban Family , trackbackI noticed a spot of blood on my jim-jams yesterday while I was staggering around in my morning routine. I was confused. It’s not that time of the month, I had no wounds when I went to sleep that could have reopened during the night. What the hell was going on? I peeled back said jim jams to discover a little scratch-like puncture thing. Apparently, the nightly cat wrestling match had continued after I fell asleep. Continued over me. And included me. All without my knowledge. Before this, I thought that the spot of blood I found on my sheet last week was from the cats tearing into each other while playing WWF. Now I wonder if the blood was from me while they tore into each other. Damn cats.
I did get one very important thing accomplished this weekend: I ported my cellphone number over to Verizon. The porting was completed in short order, the awkward “how the hell does this new phone work?” phase is at least partway over. Anyone who is on Verizon whose phone number I do not have, let me know. Because calls are free to anyone else who has Verizon! And free is good. Next Friday will be spent getting Rick his Verizon cell so that he and I can talk for free. He already has phone envy over my new one, so his original plan to get a simple phone might be in the garbage.
I also spent the better part of two hours yesterday at an insane going out of business sale at Wet Seal in the East Village (the one on Broadway and Bond, for any interested New Yorkers). Crazy discounts and buy one, get two free on top of that. I got a pair of capris, a dress, and a sweater top for $14.99. Jordana got a pair of jeans, two pairs of pants, a dress, and two tops for $35.99. We rock the discount shopping.
The only thing ruining this? That I had to go back to work this morning. I really need to win the lottery.

Wet Seal sounds like a kinky adult store. I am disappointed that it sells jeans and capris. how boring.
I am a little hurt that there was no celebratory phone call to me after the porting of the phone number. I DO have verizon, you know.
*sniff*
I’ll be OK. It’s just a LITTLE hurt.

Great minds, I’m about to port my phone over to Verizon as well. My current provider sucks in 10 different ways to Sunday.
Any problems changing your number over? Did you go to a store or do it via phone?
Muchas gracias
Lisa B~I went to the Verizon wireless store on 81st and Broadway, and they were amazing. Not only did they go through all the options, I could make calls on the new phone as soon as I left the store, AND they moved all the contacts on my old T-Mobile phone over to the new Verizon phone. Ask for Charles if you go, he’s great!
ESC~I texted Aimee, but remembered you don’t do the texting and had a crazy busy rest of the weekend so I called no one. Sowwy.
I just had this weird dream thing last night that I could get you a job with nothing to do at $100k/year so you could dedicate your time to being a dramaturg. Sorry I can’t make it come true.
My cell number has also been moved to Verizon. If you don’t still have it, let me know and I’ll email it.
You really need to get those cats under control if they’re stabbing at you while you sleep. And what, are you like the dead or something that you didn’t even notice?
Vince~Completely like the dead. I slept through an earthquake once (which might not sound like much, but since it was the only earthquake I ever witnessed, it’s saying something). I think you’re in my phonebook. They laughed at me when the moved all the contacts from the old phone to the new phone because I had so many numbers. I didn’t tell them that many of those numbers were bloggers.
Dude–if you had admitted that, they’d have thought you were a total dork!
Sounds like a scene from the Godfather — with the horse’s head. But in your case, it’ll just be the damn cat.
LUV the sales!! Especially the sample sales…. I know someone that lives on Bond St. They own the whole floor of the building but they moved in the 60’s when that area was not cool and rough.
I’m still toying with the idea of moving to Verizon, since Virgin is so NOT friendly and there’s still an annoying thingy I want to blog about (and will once I’m finished screwing with them). I just don’t want to buy a phone again.
