Posted by Julie in : Da Cats, Deep Thoughts, In Da Hood , trackbackSomething that worries me: they’re actually announcing on the radio that the air will be unsafe to go out in from noon until 6 PM today because of smog and ozone and all sorts of nasty things mixing. I believe the exact words were “Stay inside where it’s airconditioned.” While I had fully intended to do so, I’m worried that the air is actually unsafe to be out in. What the hell have we done to this planet? And how long before it goes from one afternoon where it’s unsafe to be out breathing to days, weeks, months, years of it? And how long until we get some leaders in this country who understand the importance of the Kyoto Protocol and why we should be abiding by it?
In other news, it’s August 1. That means it’s Joe Elliott’s birthday. That also means it’s another Joe’s birthday. While my mom swears that the cat’s birthday is in September (how the hell would she know, we didn’t have him when he was born), I figure if he’s named after Joe Elliott, he can have Joe Elliott’s birthday, too. Happy birthday, Joey! As near as I can figure, you’re like 15 now. That’s pretty old, but you don’t show any signs of slowing down so we’re not too worried.

I can’t wait for the commute home. When everyone is sweaty and miserable.
I think I’m just going to stay at work until midnight.
Aw, him’s a cutie kittykitty!! May he have many more birthdays.
Awww, how cute is Joey! Happy Birthday!
And not to scare you, but I felt like dog crap all day yesterday after spending about an hour outside. I felt dehydrated and yucky despite tons of water and gatorade. I’m staying indoors today!
The Wife’s kitty (cat that is) is at least 15. But she mostly acts like always. A little more mellow but looking good for her age. Again, the cat, that is.
You’re more than welcome to bring your cats, especially now that it’s getting dangerous to breath in NYC. You can be a Fresh Air Babe. Though, at your age, you’re still a kid.
heeeeehehehehehehe!!!
Bunsen~That’s downright scary. Our all black pets have matching costumes.
Vince~I went outside at lunch to go to the bank. I can tell why it’s dangerous to be out there: it’s like breathing heated swamp water. Gnasty. The cats and I will take you up on your generous offer as soon as we can figure out how to get there and how to con someone else into being in charge of my office while the boss is on vacation.
Lisa~I drank a litre of water on Saturday when I was outside for two hours (give or take), and I was still dehydrated. And that was at the aquarium, so I was in and out of airconditioning. Today…well, I went out to the bank, the thermometer on the side of the bank said 99*, and now I want to go home. I was outside for 15 minutes, tops. Can’t wait until I get out of work and have to wait out in the heat for the bus and subway (yep, where I transfer the subway is above ground). Gah.
Serra~He appreciates your well-wishes. Oh, who am I kidding, he’s a cat, he doesn’t care. But I appreciate them.
Retro~Me, either. This is “Get the hell away from me” weather.
Happy Birthday to both cute Joes!
Now I just have to figure out how to pay my outrageous power bill, so I can stay inside and hide from the heat!!!
KC~I feel your pain. A lot.
Happy belated bday Joe. (Yes, I was on vacation and it’s taken me a few days to have time to catch up to your posts!)
Did I tell you mom has two stray cats that have adopted her and one looks an awful lot like Joe, but is not nearly as outgoing and wild as Joe.
