A bit of knitting Zen October 31, 2006 ~ 10:13 am
Posted by Julie in : Craftiness Is Next To Godliness , trackbackI’m mad busy trying to get everything done in my office that needs to be done before I head out for a long weekend (a meeting with a playwright and SnB tomorrow, then Thursday we set off for Pittsburgh to take the Piss Crusader home and go to ESC’s reception), so today we have nothing more than a bit of knitting Zen. Enjoy.
River Run Jaywalkers, started July 21st, 2006, finished October 21st, 2006 on the way to Rhinebeck. By wool, I was going to finish one pair of socks for Socktoberfest.
Pattern: Grumperina’s Jaywalkers
Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Supersock, River Run colorway
Needles: US size frikkin’ 1 dpns (like knitting with toothpicks, y’all)
Dimensions: I have no idea. They fit my lovely size 7 1/2-8s beautifully.
Pattern Notes: I used one of the slightly larger patterns found here as these socks have absolutely no give to them since they’re knitted on the bias.
Would I knit it again? I already have, these are my second pair of Jaywalkers (the first pair I knitted for ESC). It’s so much fun to watch the colors change around the zig zags as they’re knitting up. But I learned my lesson the first time: no more Jaywalkers for anyone with bigger feet than me.

Nice job. You owe me an email, though from this post, we may have to work something else out.
Those are great! Am I on your Christmas list now?
OH! Happy Halloween!
I will never hear the end of it over those damned socks.
I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW: I wore those socks all during the choir retreat and got mucho compliments on them. so maybe they were painful, but they are BEAUTIFUL.
also, I am knitting a mens size 11 socks on size one needles right now, and it’s going alone just swimmingly. remind me to teach you continental when I see you this weekend!
Very nice.
You want, you can knit me a hat any time.
I have a big head.
Also, my cranium has a wide circumference.
I need to learn how to knit. Mostly because I’m poor, it’s cold, and I need a sweater.
But then I can go to S’n'B!
Love the colors!
Very nice work, Julie. You’re hired
Lisa~Do I get paid in cheap wine?
HOLY SHIT, THE RETROPOLITAN IS BACK! (How’s that for a welcome home?)
Michael~I’ve heard that from a lot of guys. You know, the part about knitting them a hat.
Regan~I can actually sort of do Continental. It’s just that my gauge is all wonky when I do. And I now see what you mean about the toes. However, I discovered that after I put my shoes on, it wasn’t so bad. I’ll wear them this weekend for kicks.
Seamus~Happy Halloween to you, too. And it depends…how big are your feet?
Vince~We will talk.
Those socks look comfy as hell. I might have to break down and try socks this winter.
