Book me while you can November 30, 2006 ~ 6:09 pm
Posted by Julie in : Random Insanity , trackbackMy schedule has this habit of being empty empty empty for most of the week and then filling up like crazy for the weekend. This weekend is no exception. Suddenly today I realized the rest of my week looks like this:
Tonight: go to Barnes & Noble to get a thicker yoga mat (Dr. Edbert said this was a good idea) and do some Christmas shopping. Come home, decorate house for Christmas, do data entry for Develop, Don’t Destroy Brooklyn, knit for Christmas.
Tomorrow: laundry night so I have clothes to wear. I am running out of unders and don’t have money to buy more.
Saturday: lunch/writing meeting with Jordana, stop off at knitting store to buy other carpal tunnel craft glove, yoga, dinner and nookie with Rick.
Sunday: brunch and window shopping with Lisa B. This is really an excuse to see the Christmas decorations on 5th Avenue and the tree at Rockefeller Center.
Monday: day off from work because I have to go see Dr. Skippy. He will be drilling out the medicated filling he put in a month and a half ago and either putting in a permanent filling, or doing a root canal. I’m really hoping for the filling, because Julie’s budget does not include $1,000 or more for a root canal. Send positive thoughts to me on Monday.
Tuesday: a mentor meeting with all of the current students in my old MFA program. Yes, I am a mentor. It’s scary. I sent an RSVP in today to the coordinator and said “Put me down as probable. I might be having a root canal on Monday.” His response: “We will have plenty of liquid refreshments to help with the root canal.” Hell, for free wine, I’ll go anywhere.
Wednesday: Stitch n Bitch. Since I haven’t gone in about three weeks, I should go.
Thursday: President’s (of the College) Christmas party, all afternoon. The evening is free. So far. I think.
I also do weddings and bar mitzvahs, if you’re interested.

Jeeze Louise! I’m tired from reading “your” schedule!!!
I was giggling at the notion that you actually considered buying new chonies instead of doing laundry, then I read the part where you scheduled in nookie and laughed even harder.
You’re a cute little monkey.
Julie, you weren’t supposed to tell! We’re supposed to be two cool NY gals who are having brunch at some trendy brassiere and then shopping at pricey stores. Yea, that’s the story! Geez, now folks know I like to do touristy things
I look forward to hanging out!
The neat thing about your overflowing schedule is that most of it sounds downright fun - well, except the possible root canal, but with a little wine…. And I suppose laundry doesn’t top folks’ list of excitement. Tho’ people-watching in the laundromats amused me for years before we finally got our own washer/dryer four years ago (yes, that’s 4 years in a soon-to-be 28 year marriage).
BTW, are the carpal tunnel knitting gloves those spandex type or are there other kind’s now? They’re sold with one in a pack?
Jenny~The one I have right now is spandexy, and was sold one (incredibly expensive) glove to a pack. It seems to help, though. And the laundromat is an endless source of entertainment for me. Many of us sit around and watch the TVs, all whispering the questions to Jeopardy! answers under our breaths.
Lisa~Oh, right. Well, we’ll be brunching at Top of the Rock, and then moving on to Cartier, Bendel, Tiffany’s, and um…I ran out of fancy store names. And we only like to do touristy things in packs, when we can elbow the turistas out of our way.
Aimee~I have not yet completely outgrown the college habit of thinking “Laundry? Or just shop for more unders?” I just do it less often now. And if I’m a monkey, I can’t tell the truth. So maybe I do it more often.
Seamus~It just got worse, I realized I have to schedule a meeting with a playwright for Thursday night. Woohoo.
gotta love the holidays, so festive and so nuts all at once.
Welcome to the club my dear. My schedule is like that EVERY week, but very little in the schedule actually has anything to do with me or the Wife.
Glad you could work a little nookie time in there. We usually forget that part in the scheduling somehow. Good luck at the dentist. I’ll say an extra special prayer just for you and maybe have the boys throw one in at bedtime as well.
