What the hell was I thinking? December 27, 2006 ~ 8:06 pm

Posted by Julie in : About a Julz, Technobabble , trackback

I am systematically importing every single CD I have onto iTunes so I can put them on the new iPod. Several times, I have been dismayed to see that I am apparently missing CDs; they are not in their cases. Where did Disc One of my Clapton compilation go? And where the fuck is my Filter CD??

Even more alarming is that while I’ve pruned the CD collection several times over the years, I still have clinkers in it. For instance, one that I just came across: the soundtrack to Footloose. Dude, what the fuck? All my music cred just went down the toilet to the sound of Kenny Loggins.

I feel yer pain, as I’m trying to get my ex to ship my CD collection from MI so I can do this too. Meanwhile I’m giving handjobs for mp3s.

Haaa!!!

3. Vince - December 27, 2006

I probably have a few of those in my CD collection as well. Glad it’s all working out for you. As for the skipping thing on your PC, perhaps you need to defrag the drive. That may be causing the skipping. Couldn’t hurt.

Oh, and yes, I am indeed a fucking genius.

4. spider - December 27, 2006

It could have been worse. It could have been Barry.

5. Sparky Duck - December 27, 2006

Kenny Loggins isnt that bad, though the Footloose version was terrible. I have had my Ipod for 3 years now and still have not imported all of my Cds

6. Seamus - December 27, 2006

The “I-gods” forgive you!

7. Gooch - December 28, 2006

I would totally kill for the Footloose soundtrack. Somebody’s eyes are watching/Somebody’s eyes are watching me loving you…

8. Gooch - December 28, 2006

Or was that the “Top GUn” soundtrack?

9. Lori - December 28, 2006

I watched Barry Gibb last night. 1980s concert with Barb.

10. Julie - December 28, 2006

Lori~If you downloaded it to Pinky, I am going to make fun of you so bad.

Gooch~I’m scared that you still know all the words to that song. Also scared that you can provide alternate movies it might have been in. But if you don’t mind a slightly beat up CD of Footloose, I will mail it to you if you want - better you than me. ;) Email me.

Seamus~I hope they do. I looked at it and then put it back in the stack without importing. Since I gave a hoot and didn’t pollute (the iPod), my account with the iGods should be square, right?

Sparky~When I just had the mini, I didn’t import everything. There was no point, since it wouldn’t hold everything. But since I got the 80GB iPod, holy hell, the room I have!! Must import everything!! (Except Footloose and maybe a couple of Bryan Adams CDs.)

Jenny~Manilow or Gibb? Doesn’t matter, I guess, both equally bad.

Vince~Started defraging the drive before I left home thing morning. I might need your help doing the wireless thing (although the laptop was set up to be wireless, the PC has just been doin’ it’s own little thing. Do I need to change anything on it?). You’ll probably get emails tomorrow/Saturday.

Scout~Glad I could make you laugh. :) I thought of you repeatedly yesterday while listening to Lime & Violet. Because they mentioned you repeatedly. Because you are JUST THAT COOL. :)

Serra~How’s the handjob for MP3 market these days? ;)

Hey if you find my Midnight Oil Red Sail in the Sunset Album let me know. I so understand how you feel. I think I know where most of the missing ones are, but I am too scared of the garage. I hope you find that Filter CD.

12. LisaBinDaCity - December 29, 2006

I think you not only lost all music cred, but your street cred as well ;-)

I have several Clapton cd’s you are welcome to borrow…

13. spider - December 29, 2006

Oh, definitely I was thinking about Manilow. But maybe it works for most musical references to Barry.

14. Esther - December 29, 2006

I’m to scared to look at what’s in my cd collection. There’s many, many cd’s that I haven’t listened to in years, there may even be stuff from before footloose.

Happy holidays!

15. Rick - December 31, 2006

Hey - Kenny Loggins could rock! - in that laid back Santa Barbara kind of way.

16. Julie - December 31, 2006

Rick~Guess who gets the Footloose CD, then?

Esther~It’s gotten worse. I just found one by The Rembrandts. The band who sings the theme song to Friends. Ouch.

Jenny~Except perhaps for Barry White. Barry White is still cool.

Lisa~Thanks. :) I’ve got a whole bunch of CDs you could borrow as well.

Boski~I think I have that Midnight Oil album on tape…

Serra~How’s the handjob for MP3 market these days? ;)

Fair to middlin’. It helps that classic rock is so old that I can get it in a 2 fer 1 deal.

[...] Julz post got me thinking about what music I have on my iPod. Like many people, I have playlists for different moods. In anticipation of hitting the gym again, I created a playlist strictly for working out. And you know what? [...]

You’re right there…Barry White is a very cool Barry.
