There is some light April 2, 2007 ~ 11:58 am
Posted by Julie in : Fambly, Random Insanity, Rick , trackbackThere is a long story behind this, but I don’t have the energy or the inclination to type it. Rick’s sister had a large malignant mass removed from her throat late last week. Yesterday we got the news that while there is still some cancer on her larynx, the doctors are going to treat it with chemo and radiation rather than removing her voicebox. She is being released from the hospital today and so far we are cautiously optimistic - at our darkest points last week, we were sure we were going to hear “She has ____ amount of time to live.” Since we weren’t told that, we’re hopeful.
Another bit of light that’s peering at me from the end of the tunnel is that my little inmate, The Feline Formerly Known As Malik, has been given a clean bill of health - I could have told them he was fine after I saw him almost hurl himself from a perch 7 feet about the ground to get food that was being brought in for another cat, but what the hell. I don’t know when I’m going to get him yet - I’m trying to get hold of a car for the pick up, but in all likelihood, he will be in the apartment by the end of the week. Learning to respond to a name that is not Malik. And eventually, to share food with Joe.

Huge “WHEW!” I’ll keep good thought out there for you all on all fronts.
That is some good news!
And I can’t wait to meet your (weird symbol denoting the cat formerly known as Malik) new kitty
“There’s a light……. ” Ok, I couldn’t help myself and I figured it might make you giggle if you heard me referring to Rocky Horror at a time like this. Hell, what’s a mejor amiga for if she can’t make you giggle even when thigns feel like they’ll never stop sucking?
Glad to hear things are at least optimistic for the family. Will definitely keep her in my thoughts and send good vibes as I can.
Talk atcha later chica.
Girl, I am so feelin’ ya! Good thoughts and vibes for Rick’s sister and for the kitty formerly known as Malik.
My goodness! I’m sorry to hear about Rick’s sister. Poor Rick. That’s a lot to take in one short space of time. As for the cat, my Mom adopted a grown cat with the name Massey. She didn’t like it, but so as not to confuse the cat, she named him Maxie. I was trying to think of something that kinda sounds like Malik: Malice? Alec? Mallet? Cow Lick? I hope things start looking up for you guys!
well I hope the light continues to grow for you and I can almost guarantee Malik is gonna stick as a name.
Glad things are brighter. Hope all goes well with Rick’s sister.
Ooh.. after reading geewits comment, you totally have to name your new cat Mallet after the character on Guiding Light back in the day.. remember him ??? he was the hotness.
and I got to meet him.
yay.
Sending lots of good thoughts to Rick’s sister. *HUGS* you - sounds like you’ve been through the ringer lately!
