Posted by Julie in : Random Insanity , trackbackHas anyone else noticed how many of Colin Firth’s movies make reference to Jane Austen? I mean he was in Pride and Prejudice, and was cast in Bridget Jones’s Diary as Mark Darcy because of that (Bridget Jones is in fact a retelling of P&P - she and Daniel even work for Pemberley Press at the beginning of the movie). But last night I was watching What a Girl Wants (shut UP, Colin is in leather pants in that movie, I don’t care if it was a teen film) in which he plays Henry Dashwood (the family’s last name in Sense & Sensibility) and his mother was the Countess of Wickham (Wickham was in P&P).
Maybe all this just means I should start reading my Jane Austen again…
But now I am thinking of Hugh Grant because he was also in Bridget Jones. And he was in one of my new favorite movies, Music and Lyrics. And just because I found this online and I love this song, here you go:

Ooh Colin in those leather pants - *DROOL* You won’t catch me giving you any flack for watching What A Girl Wants. I saw it in the theater and bought it as soon as it came out on DVD. It’s a fine movie with some damn fine eye candy in it.
Music & Lyrics is one of your new favorite movies too? I also saw that one on the big screen and snapped it up on DVD this past weekend. Hugh is starting to look a little long in the tooth these days but I “ain’t” going to complain too much because he was looking pretty fine in that movie and well, his character was so well written and acted, you couldn’t help but fall in love with him. *giggle*

Either way go listen to some Queen and get something else on you mind. I recommend Queen II as that’s what I’m listening to right now.

FD~Exactly. The idea of them falling in love inside of a week was a bit far-fetched, but it was so well written and acted otherwise that I went for it. And I *loved* the 80s songs. PoP goes my heart indeed!
Vince~Women always have Colin Firth on the brain. Ask any of us. And I like “The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke.” I also have a particular fondness for “White Queen (As It Began).”
