Lotto Fever February 20, 2004 ~ 4:36 pm

I have officially been sucked into the massive delusion sweeping the nation. That’s right, Mega Millions. With a jackpot of $222 million, try to find someone who hasn’t bought at least one ticket. I don’t need $222 million. I don’t think anyone on earth needs that much money (although friends of a certain President might disagree with me). However, $5 million would be nice. In addition to the lovely things I could do for myself, that would be enough to get all friends and family members out of debt and have some left over to buy a house somewhere. Not in NYC, but close to. Chances of me winning anything are slim to none, but like most people, I would rather have the possibility of being rich than face the reality of being poor. Go ahead, name the musical that last line came from. I dare you.

Okay, so if you have by some miracle found this blog, you’re probably wondering “Who the hell is this person?” Or maybe you’re not. Maybe you hit the wrong button on Google or something, and now you’re thinking “Why isn’t the back button working?”. In the second case, be patient. Or close out the screen. Your choice. In the first case, here I am:

Julie H. 26. Brooklyn, NY. I work as an assistant registrar in one of 5.2 billion (give or take) colleges in NYC. I occasionally gig around as a dramaturg at one of the 52 billion (give or take) theatres in NYC. Note that I don’t often get paid to do these gigs, even though I have an MFA in Dramaturgy and Theatre Criticism, so I have to keep my day job. I live by myself (finally!) in a basement apartment near Prospect Park with two cats, have a boyfriend who has two daughters (ages 8 and 11). And I think that covers the main points. Oh, I’m a semi-only child. How does this happen? It happens when Mom marries a much older man who has two children only slightly younger than Mom. My brothers are 28 and 26 years older than me, so I’m my Dad’s third child and my Mom’s only. Dad died before I was 2, so there you have it.

I think that’s it for this go round. Stay tuned for rantings and ramblings…
