New Skin May 2, 2004 ~ 11:31 pm

Two and a half hours later (including shopping and editing time), I’ve got a new skin. With a pic that I found that happens to match the cool header things. And now I am exhausted. And going to bed. Just as soon as The Adventures of Robin Hood finished on TCM. I can’t help it, I love this movie. Ever since I was a kid and got really into Robin Hood via the Kevin Costner (aka, the “I’m so cool I don’t have to put on an English accent to play an English archetype”) version. My friend Dana and I found the Errol Flynn version then, and it’s had a spot in my heart ever since. I mean, how can you not like it when Errol comes into the banquet scene and flops a deer down on the table? That’s classic Hollywood, baby!!!

And if you want to see what’s wrong with new Hollywood, the Olsen Twins got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Who the hell decides these things???

And they seem to be nice enough. But I had taken for granted having a single woman upstairs vs. having a family of three up there. These people are much noisier. They have a child, who runs back and forth. They run past my window on their way to the backyard, yelling “Joe” (the father’s name), disturbing my cat (whose name is also Joe and is not used to people running past him at top speed yelling his name) so that he feels compelled to come find me and whine about it. It’s going to be an adjustment period for all of us. The cats are especially clingy (ie, “I have to sit on top of you because I’m freaked out by the noises coming through the ceiling.”), which can get annoying. But we’re coping so far…I say as the one cat jumps in my lap and the other sits on top of the keyboard.

Oh, new and noteworthy blog, discovered by Rhonda Elizabeth (thanks, RE!). “Brian’s Soapbox,” linked over on the left is the blog of Brian May, guitarist from Queen. I’ve always thought Brian has an interesting way of looking at things (just listen to his music - with Queen and solo), and his blog confirms that. His son Jimmy’s blog is pretty good too, and has priceless observations about life with Queen, including the infamous women’s mudwrestling backstage (”I couldn’t understand why the women were allowed to mudwrestle and I wasn’t…”).

And other than that…shopping for a new blog skin. The green text is occasionally hard on the eyes against the black background. And while I really like the pic at the top of this, it isn’t my ideal. So we’ll see what I come up with. Or rather, what blogskins.com comes up with.

I think that’s it for now…
