4 day weekend! July 1, 2004 ~ 4:55 pm
Posted by Julie in : Daily Grind , comments closedWith the College’s usual summer Friday’s off policy and the “bank holiday” (if you will) falling on Monday, that means I have four days off. Yay! Don’t know what I’ll be doing, but the girls come home from Paris tomorrow night, so I’m looking forward to some time hanging out with them and Rick, and possibly some fireworks thrown in for good measure.
If I don’t post before Sunday, have a good holiday weekend, and I’ll talk to you all later!
I’m awake. Really. July 1, 2004 ~ 10:50 am
Posted by Julie in : Daily Grind , comments closedFinally went to bed last night at 12:30, but tossed and turned all night. Now I’m wondering…was this the effect of a can and a half of soda that I had yesterday morning? Surely not. I have cut way back on the caffeine intake, but a can of Mountain Dew and a half can of Diet Vanilla Pepsi wouldn’t do this. Would they? Maybe it was that and the Zoloft. Yes, kids, you read that right, I’m back on de drugs. Talked to the shrink, and he said cutting it completely was not so great, scaling it back was a better idea. So now I’m doing 25 mg a day instead of 50 mg. And to help my occasional sleeplessness, he prescribed some Ambien for me. Love that guy.
I could’ve taken the Ambien last night, I guess, but you’re supposed to be sure of 8 hours of sleep when you take it to avoid grogginess. (On a side note, grogginess is just a great word, and should be used more in everyday conversation.) Which means taking it by 11 for me. And as we already established, I wasn’t in bed then. So I was back up at 2, 4:30, and 5:30, and tossing and turning some more. Then Rick called me at 6:50 from Massachusetts.
“I know it’s early, but I figured this is what time we set the alarm for on work days.”
“This is what time you set the alarm for at your house. At my house, the alarm doesn’t go off until 7:30.”
“Oh. But we get up now when you’re at my house.”
No, for the record, we don’t get up that early at his house, either. We set the alarm for that early because we either sleep through it, or talk, or…well, other things that I shouldn’t mention in case his kids are reading my blog again. But we don’t actually get out of bed at 6:50. Most mornings, we’re lucky if we’re out of bed by 8. And I have to be at work in Brooklyn by 9. But his memory, like that of most males, is convenient.
But I forgave him because he called and I missed him. Just like I forgive him when he calls me at 2:30 AM because he’s awake and missing me. He is the only one who is allowed to call anytime he wants. So we talked for a bit and set up plans for this evening. And then I couldn’t get back to sleep. So I’ve been awake since 6:50, after a really fitful night’s sleep. *sigh*
Mountain Dew anyone?
