Fahrenheit 9/11 July 2, 2004 ~ 10:07 pm

So we went and saw Fahrenheit 9/11 tonight, luckily getting into the 5:00 show, as they were sold out for the rest of the night.

I have to say that it’s not Michael Moore’s best film. About and hour and a half into it (it’s two hours long), I started getting fidgety. The subject is important, and it made me mad as hell to see all the ways certain people in power are making money off a situation that is killing men and women in our armed services, but it just got overwhelming after a while and a bit clouded in the middle. Not well organized is the best way to put it, I think. But that feeling passed, and I think it’s a film that everyone should see, Republican or Democrat, American or not.

It’s important to realize the extent of greed that exists in our leading politicians. It’s necessary to be reminded that our current war in Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11, despite what those politicians are telling us. And it’s vital to see why our servicemen and women are being killed. Rick knew most of this information going in - he is the only person I know that reads the New York Times cover to cover every day. I didn’t. And taking it all with a grain of salt (Moore isn’t exactly impartial), I still learned a lot today. And now I’ll be making plans to join the protests when the Republican National Committee hits NYC in August. Because I feel I have to. It’s a free country, and I’m going to use that freedom to express my dissatisfaction with an American regime that never should have been and a certain President with a Galahad complex.
