Finally July 8, 2004 ~ 4:24 pm

I had to wrangle it out of its box, wrestle it down the stairs, set it up, and then heft it up onto a table so the exhaust hose would have a straight path to the window, but it’s up and running. Yay, airconditioner. I wouldn’t say I’m exactly chilly, even with it running full blast, but then again, I’m in an open floor plan apartment. It’s got a lot of space to fill. If I want to be frigid, I can stick a sheet across the doorway between the living room and kitchen. Right now I’m happy just being cool. Cos it hit 90 degrees out today. Pleh.
Next tasks, in no particular order: grocery store for kitty litter and sundries, vacuum house, and take shower. I smell. But I will probably smell if I go out to get groceries, even if I take a shower, so maybe that should come last. Decisions, decisions.
Waiting for the UPS Guy (or Gal) July 8, 2004 ~ 10:16 am
Posted by Julie in : Daily Grind , comments closedMy airconditioner is somewhere in Brooklyn, in a truck, on its way to be delivered. Of course, UPS can’t tell me when it’s gonna get here, so here I sit. In my hot, dark (can’t have too many lights on, that just raises the temperature) apartment. Can’t wait to get the airconditioner just so I can turn lights on again. But it’s not so bad…I do get the day off work. And when I go back in tomorrow, my boss won’t be there, so I’ll be in charge, which is always fun. And then it will be the weekend! And time for camping with the kids and Rick. Speaking of him, I still have to go shopping…it’s his 50th birthday on Sunday, and even though he bitches about not wanting anything, I always get him a present. After all…50’s a big birthday. And even if it wasn’t, birthdays are special. Dammit.
And in other news, my friend Kim has just been given permission to do her Master’s thesis on Harry Potter. She doesn’t know exactly what aspect she’s tackling yet, but all I can say is “I knew I should have gotten my Master’s in English Lit!!!”. I mean, really. I had to write my thesis on Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge. Don’t get me wrong, I love the play, I think Miller is one of the best playwrights ever, but who wouldn’t rather write about Harry Potter?
Time to sit in front of the fan for some relief. I’ll be back, though, I’m sure of it.
