Oh, so many things August 1, 2004 ~ 12:41 pm
Posted by Julie in : Daily Grind , comments closedWell, my morning’s shot. I woke up at 10, talked to Rick on the phone, wrote a letter to the Oldest at her camp, and checked out the blogoverse. Now it’s 12:45. But hey, it was raining all morning, so there was really no way I was going out to do the laundry, grocery shopping, or my Target run. Looks like it’s clearing up now, though, so as soon as I’m done posting, out I go. Been lounging about in the PJs too long. Listening to some kickass live Lep recordings…thanks, Stephanie K.!!!
I haven’t posted in a while. This is because I haven’t really been home since Thursday morning, and since I don’t work on Fridays during most of the summer (August 6 is my last Friday off - nooooo!), I’m not playing on the computer so much. Was trying to jam in as much time with Rick and the Youngest as I could before they head off for three weeks. Youngest has circus day camp near grandma’s house starting Monday, so they’ll be living up there for the next three weeks. Suddenly, I’m at loose ends.
Spent yesterday afternoon at a goodbye party for my friend Tony and his family. His wife is flying out to Oregon with the two kids on Wednesday, and Tony leaves a week later. So there will still be at least one opportunity for hanging out, but the time is drawing nigh. Pleh. I’m gonna miss them. The baby just learned to walk, and her hair’s starting to turn red. We’re going to miss all the “firsts” while they’re out there. And the boychild is getting taller and more creative every time I see him. Yesterday he and the other kids at the party put on a little dance show for us. Spontaneous child creativity - you just have to love that. They’ll be better off out there, though. NYC public schools are not the kindest to little boys who don’t play rough, and it sounds like the Oregon school will be just what he needs. Plus, they’ll be closer to their grandparents. So we’ll miss them, but it’s for the best. And I’ll have the 6 mosquito bites that I got yesterday to remember them by for a long time. They’re each the size of a quarter, so they ain’t going away any time soon. Actually, the one on my left quad feels like a spider bite, so it’ll take even longer to go away since I’m mildly allergic.
What else, what else, what else? I know I’m missing something here…Oh, happy Lammas to all my fellow Wiccans. First harvest, kids. Fall’s just around the corner, although after a week of 80+ temps and 90%+ humidity, it sure doesn’t feel like it. And after spending most of the week at Rick’s with a distinct absence of airconditioning (he has it, he just doesn’t use it), it was nice to come home to my airconditioned Julz-Cave.
Happy Birthday to the golden throated (I love that description…it just sounds so dirty, doesn’t it?) Joe Elliott, as well. I hope wherever he’s celebrating it he is surrounded by the people and things he loves best. He deserves it - this time last year I was watching him work on his birthday at Jones Beach!
And there will be another entry about the Democratic National Convention soon. I don’t want to tag it on here, because this post is long enough. Rhonda, get out your cans of Spam, hon. ![]()
